MTS Offers Truck Driver Recruitment Solutions for Clients in North America
July 15, 2005
MTS Driver Recruiters is a driver recruiting firm specializing in finding qualified, commercially licensed truck drivers for transportation clients anywhere in North America. MTS is able to supply more qualified candidates than typical in-house recruitment efforts because the company's proprietary recruitment system puts an open position in front of more people, faster than any client could do on his own. As a result of finding more qualified applicants for a position, MTS can then filter through these to identify the very best driver for the position, and then present that driver to a client for his approval.

Based in Michigan, MTS has been in business five years and has placed thousands of drivers in a wide range of clients throughout North America. The experienced and highly qualified logistics recruiting staff utilizes a combination of advanced technologies and robust recruiting processes to reach deeper into the driver community to advertise open positions. MTS specializes in “Startup Operations” by helping established companies who are expanding into a new territory find a staff of drivers, and remote recruiting where MTS can identify qualified candidates for clients who need drivers at locations away from their primary operations.

MTS has developed an approach that reduces recruiting lead-time, improves overall recruiting accuracy and provides companies with access to greater numbers of qualified drivers for each open position. MTS learns a customer's business, culture and unique requirements, then translates position requirements into clear job specifications. This enables MTS to accurately identify candidates for consideration and translate those specifications into a compelling presentation that is likely to grab the attention of potential candidates.

MTS develops a Sourcing Plan customized to the individual job requisition. Within hours of an open position, MTS contacts scores of potential drivers through a well-developed networking process and presents the opportunity, while simultaneously screening each candidate's qualifications. Each candidate is measured against the job specifications. In-depth interviews and regulatory compliance tasks are conducted on the very best candidates.

MTS uses a combination of proprietary referral technology to increase access to drivers and a sophisticated database of over 100,000 names. Every driver MTS comes in contact with becomes part of the MTS recruiting referral web. The company utilizes a sophisticated proprietary technology to manage this referrals process and ensure effectiveness and consistency. As a result, a large percentage of MTS' client's openings are met through referrals. MTS recruiters search the proprietary candidate database (MTS-iQ), and each day MTS-iQ grows as drivers throughout the U.S. provide their contact information and experience. Open positions are presented through postings, email blast, text messaging to cell phones, standard phone calls and U.S. mail, as well as other non-traditional means. MTS recruiters also contact drivers who are currently working elsewhere. These are drivers who are willing to consider better opportunities, but don't take the time to monitor job boards and advertisements.

The MTS recruiting, operations and safety teams are experts in the field of transportation. They have comprehensive industry experience including regulatory compliance, DOT file maintenance and 3PL operations management. The in-depth driver candidate review they conduct includes the driver's complete DOT File, ten-year employment history, current MVR, current drug screen (NIDA), current DOT Physical, a criminal history check, the appropriate license and endorsements for the job, and a capability check.

Once an ideal driver candidate is found, the client has the option of direct placement, or deferred placement. In direct placement the company hires the driver immediately after the interview. Deferred placement allows a company to evaluate a driver on the job for 90 days, or longer if needed, before actually hiring the candidate. During the 90-day deferment period the driver reports to the client's company, but remains on the MTS payroll. This allows a company to get to know the driver before he/she becomes an employee. Plus, MTS maintains the driver's time consuming DOT records.

MTS has placed many thousands of drivers throughout the U.S. and can meet most client requirements, including number of positions, special endorsements and/or experience, remote areas of the US, large volume startups, and other possible requirements. Clients range from small private fleets to large commercial trucking companies throughout North America.

Newspaper Ads Not Working?
For fleet managers looking to hire commercial drivers, job-marketing options are substantially limited to only a few choices. Of the choices, newspapers are by far the most significant form of job advertising used by carriers today.
